Thistle Hill’s Gourmet Pantry Opens!

We have very exciting news for everyone who loves food and great wine! We’ve opened the new Gourmet Pantry as part of our cellar door. You’ll be able to find the best local and organic food featuring products from Mowats of Mudgee, Noble House, Lakelands Olives, Rajarani’s Indian Gourmet, Pukara Estate, Whisk and Pin and Relish This.

We have sauces, dips, spices, spreads, crackers, cookies, organic chocolates and delicious local and regional cheese. Come visit us for regular weekend food tastings and pairings with our wines. We’ll soon offer cheese platters so you can enjoy a picnic among the vines! Our official grand opening will be Easter weekend.

Our New Winery Crushes the First Grapes

The newly built, state of the art winery at Thistle Hill has crushed the first grapes and despite some nervousness... all the parts seem to be working well together! An exhausted Michael Slater has been working hard alongside his new assistant winemaker Andrew. Thistle Hill’s winemaker, will be making our award-winning wines as well as wine for numerous others in the Mudgee area.

Thistle Hill 2009 Riesling Wins Best NSW Organic Wine

"AMID a boom in the number of wineries going organic, one of Mudgee's pioneers has won the inaugural award for Best NSW Organic Wine, at the NSW Wine Industry Awards. Thistle Hill Vineyard Named Best Organic Wine

Thistle Hill's 2009 Riesling has just won a silver medal at the NSW Wine Awards in Sydney, and it was the highest scoring wine made from organically grown grapes in the show. The winery was also awarded bronze medals for its 2009 Thistle Hill Chardonnay and its 2009 Erudgere Shiraz Cabernet. Thistle Hill has been producing wines from its organic vineyard since its foundation in 1976. More than 800 entries were received for the 2009 wine awards and this year was the first where a separate division for organically grown grapes was open for competition. Read more...

Mudgee Wine Pioneers Unite

Great News! Long time organic vineyard, Thistle Hill, is pleased to announce that it has merged with its neighbouring vineyard, Erudgere, in a move that will guarantee access to the best-quality grapes in the Mudgee region and a long future of award-winning wines.

The arrangement brings together one of Australia’s most-loved wine labels with the grower of some of the Mudgee region’s oldest and best-rated grapes. Erudgere Vineyard is also currently under conversion to organic certification, meaning Thistle Hill’s long history of sustainable viticulture will be upheld.

Mudgee Wine Month - September

Mudgee comes alive during the month of September for Mudgee Wine Month. Special events are offered throughout the month. Thistle Hill will offer live music every Saturday, special picnic baskets and wine appreciation classes with our winemaker, Michael Slater.

Organic Feast - October

We were so pleased with the success of the last organic feast we’ve decided to make it an annual event. This year we’ll hold it in Sydney at one of the many restaurants now carrying Thistle Hill wines. Please watch for more details closer to the date.
